ジャズの100枚。
ユニバーサルミュージックジャパンが企画したジャズの名盤をすべて1000円で復刻するというジャズの100枚。というシリーズです。いわゆる名盤、は玄人向けの印象がありなかなか取っつきにくいので、このような企画があるとすんなり聴いてみようという気になり、とても助かります。なお、すでに第二弾や第三弾も発表されています。合計300枚です。名盤を聴くだけで一生を使い果たしそうですね。
Jaga Jazzist
エクスペリメンタル・ジャズバンドと銘打つバンドです。日本での知名度もそこそこ。毎回耳に残るバンドですので気になって聞いてみました。

Complete Remasteredシリーズ第3弾はPaul Motian(1931-2011)というジャズドラマーです。ビル・エヴァンスやセロニアス・モンク、ポール・ブレイ、キース・ジャレットなどと共演し、50-60年代に活躍しました。70年代以降はリーダー作を作るようになり、このボックスにはモチアンがリーダーの作品が収録されています。

Complete Remasteredシリーズ第2弾はAnthony Braxtonさんです。サックスとクラリネットを操り、極めて創造的で意味不明なインプロを吹きまくります。一聴すると出鱈目ですので心をかすりもせず通り過ぎることもあれば、スマッシュヒットすることもあります。まるでハイリスクハイリターン銘柄のようです。

Black Saint & Soul Note というレーベルの過去の名盤をリマスターして廉価でボックスにしたシリーズ。10くらいのシリーズがあります。6枚セットで3000円台という驚異の安さです。まずはイタリアのピアニスト、エンリコ・ピエラヌンツィさんのセットを聴きました。日本ではあまり有名ではないですが、抒情的でかつ力強い表現力多彩なピアニストです。

Verve Jazz Masters
アメリカの大手ジャズレーベルが出した、アーティスト単位のベスト盤です。数年前までジャズを全く知らなかったのでまずこのシリーズを聴いていました。ジャズは性質上アーティストの個性が非常に強いので、合うか合わないか好みがはっきり分かれるジャンルであると感じました。このシリーズはいずれもよくまとまっており、気に入るアーティストを発掘する最良の選択肢の一つといえます。
